Symantec’s Security Technology and Response team innovates and develops Norton’s security technologies that provide protection to your devices in five layers: file based (antivirus), network based (firewall), behavior (SONAR), reputation, and remediation.I'm having an issue with the standalone product not updating: Running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit, no proxy used Installed from site download, ran Live Update. I've already reinstalled after cleaning registry, etc. :( Would it be possible to make the site download the latest version?
I've also tried uninstalling, using CCleaner, then re-installing a bunch of times too.
Simple fix: Make the very latest version available for download instead of an older one.
It is a partial fix for now and gives the Safe Web features.
Norton is working on making Identity Safe compatible and another updated toolbar will be released in the future.
Experience has shown that it's best to have the patch downloaded before Firefox is updated (or reinstalled).
Regards, Thank you very much for your help, Ballistic!
On the client try restarting the antivirus service. Try running liveupdate, or download the intelligent updater from symantec.
Logged on as an administrator on the client you can run from the run option. here is a link to the updater file: running this This will remove all the reg keys and directorys and files. Also make sure the Server has the same version as the client or lower.
So far so good, however, there is one computer that I noticed in the Symantec System Center Console that is not getting the updated virus definitions.
Under "status" of this particular computer, it says "offline." However, I know that the user is currently logged in and that the machine is turned on..suggestions?
Say, you are on 188.8.131.52, run live updated, reboot once - now check the FF toolbar version(in addons) it would read 8.6.1.x and again run live update and continue to reboot - you would reach to 8.6.2.x toolbar version and you need to do this sequence untill it says no more updates available on running live update - you would land up in 8.6.5.x version with FF 27 and Chrome compatible. Yes it is a PITA, but I understand that there will be a major update (sometime in the future) to the Stand Alone so that the download reflects a current NTB version. As I mentioned, the update/reboot cycle is endless.
